This country house is part of a perfectly renovated group of houses.
The hamlet of Fontanili which appears from a distance shining in the sun and set like a pearl in the lush greenery of Ligurian woodlands, is lived in and taken care of with love by its few inhabitants.
The house, on 3 floors, is at the beginning of the village on a slate paved lane and enjoys a beautiful view.
Its facade is adorned by a Canadian vine and water fountain from which runs the pure water from nearby spring which is what gave the area its name, Fontanili.
On the ground floor there is a built-in kitchen and a small fireplace, marble flooring with a typical old Ligurian design.
A staircase in slate leads to the two upper floors; on the first there is a bedroom with a stone wall and an incredible view of the hills and hamlets below, a bathroom with stone walls and marble clad shower. On the second floor there is a loft-converted bedroom with wood ceiling and a wide view of the surrounding scenery.
The house has an extra back entrance and a little courtyard beside the lane which leads to a small church and square where a pergola with tables and chairs is used by the community for convivial moments and is always available for everybody.
The house is sunny and bright and all windows look onto the wonderful hills and little hamlets in front of the village.
Nearby, as part of the property, there is also a small plot of land of around 30sq.m.
A free parking space at the entrance of the hamlet.

Altri Borghi Liguri: Location and surroundings of this property

Fontanili, a district of the Commune of Carpasio, was in the past a hamlet of shepherds and peasants who worked in the woods, picking chestnuts, mushrooms and cultivating vines.
Its stone houses have preserved their original features thanks to a perfect conservation and renovation. The signs of old country life can still be seen in the places which were shared by the inhabitants, like the oven, wash house and the wine pressing basin.
The first person to rediscover Fontanili was an English writer and it is said in the absolute silence of the valley it was easy to hear him typing away on his typewriter. Fontanili is still uncontaminated, an ideal place to relax, dedicate yourself to some writing, painting or pick chestnuts or mushrooms, despite being only a few kilometres from all public services and amenities.
There are a number of excursions available on foot or by mountain bike, along paths which lead to other hamlets and along the Argentina stream which features crystal clear waters, pools and waterfalls in the middle of the woods or on terraced olive
groves. It is an ideal place for those who want to relax.
Fontanili can be reached, after having left the main road, via a secondary road of around 2 km immersed in the woods, narrow and full of bends like most typical Ligurian roads, yet easy to drive on. Along the way there are many beautiful springs which give the place its name. Just few kilometres away is Badalucco with its shops and amenities, or Molini di Triora. In the nearby area of Gori there is a bar and excellent restaurant.
The sea is 18 km away, around 30 minutes by car.
Sanremo and the French Riviera with its international Nice airport are nearby.
