Storo: Location and surroundings of this property

Lodrone is a village of about a thousand inhabitants located at almost 400 meters (amsl) in the plain overlooking Lake Idro. It is here that the waters of the mountain river Chiese flow after having crossed the whole Valle del Chiese descending from the Adamello glacier. From 1.100 ca. to 1.826 it was the main seat of the family Earls of Lodron, who dominated the whole Valley and left important inheritances such as houses, palaces and castles that show the peculiar history traces of a border region. In fact, until 1918 this territory was the southernmost border of the Austrian-Hungarian Empire, after for so many centuries it had already been the border between the County of Tyrol and the Republic of Venice.

Lake Idro offers a picturesque landscape, a mild climate and a restful environment. The lake is also popular with sailing, canoeing and windsurfing enthusiasts. The surrounding mountains with their cool climate are full of pleasant walks, more challenging trekking and MBT (mountain bike trails). The nearby Monte Maniva (2.014 m. high) offers a network of winter ski slopes and wonderful summer panorama with pleasant walks. A little further north, the wild Val di Daone, a gateway to the Adamello-Brenta Nature Park, is a top destination for ice-climbers, thanks to the 140 waterfalls which in winter turn into "crystal walls". Driving further north you reach the popular Madonna di Campiglio with its amazing carousel of ski slopes and summer hiking trails. As a whole, the Chiese Valley is a beautiful unspoilt natural area rich in history, located strategically and still away from the mass tourist circuits.
