Cicerale is a small medieval village located in the valley of the river Alento, in the lower Cilento. The village is perched on a spur of Mount San Leo, about 500 meters above sea level, and has a characteristic elongated structure, with a double row of houses arranged on the sides of a single road.

The origins of Cicerale date back to Roman times, but the village was developed in the Middle Ages, when an important agricultural and commercial center developed. The village was fortified to defend against the incursions of the Saracens and the Normans, and even today the traces of the ancient walls are visible.

The old town of Cicerale is a fascinating place to visit. The narrow and winding streets are lined with stone houses, with flowered balconies and inlaid portals.
