Strategically located in the center of the municipality of which it is the capital, the town of La Oliva is a key hub in the north of Fuerteventura, offering connections to the popular coastal areas of Tindaya, El Cotillo, Majanicho, and Corralejo, as well as to other villages in the municipality and to the natural landscapes that each year attract many outdoor sports enthusiasts.
This charming town is set against an impressive backdrop of volcanic remains such as Escanfraga and Montaña la Arena, along with the characteristic “cuchillos” and their narrow peaks, worn down over time.
La Oliva also boasts an interesting cultural heritage, visible in some of its buildings, such as the Church of La Candelaria, dating back to the 16th century, the Cilla Museum, the Casa del Inglés, and the Casa de los Coroneles, built in the 17th century. It was the capital of the island from 1834 to 1860.
