The municipal area of Boadilla del Monte is located to the west of Madrid and borders Majadahonda to the north. Boadilla del Monte is a part of the Metropolitan Area of Madrid, situated to the west of the capital, from which it is 15 kilometers away. It has a population of 57,000 inhabitants and covers 47.2 km2. It borders the municipalities of Majadahonda, Pozuelo de Alarcón, Alcorcón, Villaviciosa de Odón, and Villanueva de la Cañada. It lies entirely within the Guadarrama River basin.
This municipality experienced a significant population increase in the mid-seventies with the establishment of a large number of single-family homes in residential developments. In the coming years, it will again experience a large population increase due to the liberalization of large areas of land that are already being urbanized.
The main population centers, besides the old town, are the luxury residential developments known as Montepríncipe, Olivar de Mirabal, Parque Boadilla, Bonanza, and Las Lomas, known as historic developments. Valdecabañas boasts an excellent location, with good access to the M-50 and the urban center of Boadilla. Adjacent to these are Monte de las Encinas, Pino Centinela, Valdecabañas, and Valdepastores; and of recent construction, the Residencial Siglo XXI and the areas of Viñas Viejas stand out.
