Unique property called Pazo de la Merced

From industry to hospitality. In this property, whose oldest constructions can be dated to the 16th century and which preserves a small baroque-style chapel dedicated to the Virgin of Mercy, the design oscillates between a manor house and an industrial enclosure. In the mid-19th century, the manor house functioned as a Franciscan Convent and around 1925 it passed into the hands of the popular doctor D. Francisco Cebreiro Barros, D. Paco of the Merced. In the 1980s, the dilapidated building was restored to convert it, in 1991, into the first Rural Tourism House of the province of A Coruña. The construction techniques employed are defined by the special moment of its reconstruction: the 1983 crisis facilitated the use of materials and labor in steel works, replacing the deteriorated wooden elements. Similarly, the wood used was industrialized in the form of boards, "marine board" that guarantees its standardization and stability. These materials are complemented with others already established in the 20th century such as reinforced concrete and glass without forgetting the solid wood in the carpentry, nor the treatment in the reinforced concrete choosing color integration and surface treatment. Both the labor and the materials have been framed with the aim of achieving an adequate volumetric composition with shapes, textures, and colors that integrate with the existing building.
