Description

The Palace of Sorribas is located in the parish of Cazanes, in the Asturian municipality of Villaviciosa. It is situated on a hillside of Mount Coroña, surrounded by meadows and with the forest of La Carbayera linked to the property. In the access wall to the palatial grounds, two of the defensive towers that formed the medieval wall of Villaviciosa are preserved, transferred to this location in the mid-20th century. The first documentary mention of a manor house in Sorribas dates back to 1383. In its current configuration, it is a 17th-century construction, with some isolated earlier elements, such as a late Gothic window that is still preserved in the annex to the main building. The main building has three floors: ground floor, attic, and a semi-basement. A wall surrounds the complex, with two dovecotes in the lower corners. The palace, as well as the chapel, retains the family coat of arms. The palace was declared a cultural asset, with the category of monument, on September 20, 2017. The house-palace is located on a 20-hectare estate, of which 8 hectares correspond to private forest. Regarding the ground floor, the main entrance leads directly to a magnificent large living room (65 m²), where several environments are differentiated, highlighting an impressive fireplace. Adjacent to this room, there is an office-library, as well as a splendid dining room with large wooden beams on the ceiling. This floor is completed by four bedrooms, two bathrooms, and a toilet, as well as a large kitchen with an adjoining laundry room. A beautiful chestnut wood staircase, illuminated by a large stained glass window, leads us to the attic floor, where there are two bedrooms, each with a bathroom, a corridor that dominates the entire property, and finally an attic. The semi-basement consists of a garage for several vehicles, a storage room, a boiler room, as well as other smaller rooms. The extensive garden, in front of the south façade of the property, features various species, among which the unmistakable bougainvillea that characterizes the property stands out. The private forest, with its waterfall and the romantic forest trail that gives access to the house, flanked by imposing oaks, will make you feel in a magical and special place. The complex is completed with a chapel, located in front of the house-palace, as well as the old stables next to the main building, which have 835 m² distributed over two floors. The structure of the building is intact and offers numerous possibilities for rehabilitation for possible commercial use in the hospitality sector. If you are looking for a unique opportunity, whether as a private residence or as tourist accommodation, do not hesitate, we offer you an exclusive property where you can disconnect and enjoy escaping from the stress and bustle of large cities.

Location: Villaviciosa, Asturias

Villaviciosa is a council in the Principality of Asturias (Spain), bordered to the north by the Cantabrian Sea, to the south by the councils of Sariego, Nava, Cabranes, and Piloña, to the west by those of Gijón and Siero, and to the east by that of Colunga. It is known for the quality of its cider and the abundance of apple trees. Its estuary, the Villaviciosa estuary, is the largest in Asturias. It is the most notable geographical feature within the entire municipality, flowing into the sea between El Puntal and Rodiles Beach, one of the best in Asturias, where surfing is practiced year-round. Various water sports can also be enjoyed in the estuary. It also boasts an important fishing port in the picturesque village of Tazones. Its climate, like the rest of the coastal councils in the region, is mild and humid. As such, it has pleasant temperatures in both winter and summer, making hiking possible, with six officially recognized Short Distance Trails by the Mountaineering, Climbing, and Hiking Federation of the Principality of Asturias. Furthermore, Villaviciosa has a complete repertoire of Romanesque and Pre-Romanesque works, highlighting the architectural ensemble formed by San Salvador de Valdediós (El Conventín), the adjacent church of Santa María, and the accompanying monastic convent. You can also enjoy excellent, unique, and singular gastronomy. All this makes this place a true natural paradise where the impressive nature prevails, all just 25 minutes away from the main Asturian cities such as Oviedo, Gijón, and Avilés, thanks to excellent communications via highway and motorway: A-8, Cantabrian Motorway: Baamonde - Gijón - Villaviciosa - Llanes - Torrelavega - Solares - Bilbao - San Sebastián and Irún. A-64, Oviedo - Villaviciosa Motorway: Villaviciosa - Alto de la Fumareda - Lieres - Oviedo Other roads: N-632, road parallel to the A-8: Canero - Cudillero - Muros del Nalón - Soto del Barco - Avilés - Gijón - Villaviciosa - Colunga - Caravia - Ribadesella.
