Sóller, a vibrant town in the heart of the Tramuntana, near the island’s beautiful west coast, boasts some of Mallorca’s most exclusive properties: townhouses, traditional country estates and elegant villas. Thanks to the toll-free tunnel, it is only a 30-minute drive from Palma. In the 18th and 19th centuries, Sóller excelled in the international citrus trade, and in the early 20th century it saw the construction of the railway from Palma. Shortly afterwards, a tram line followed from Sóller to the port. With their picturesque original carriages, the train from Palma and the wooden streetcar running between the town and the port continue to delight tourists. Sóller’s cosmopolitan lifestyle made it one of the country’s modernist highlights. Among the many Art Nouveau houses and buildings is the Sant Bartomeu church on the main square. Sóller has first-class infrastructure: supermarkets, shops, health and sports facilities. It is an ideal place for hiking, mountain biking or climbing, and Son Termens Golf Club is only a 20-minute drive away. The town offers a fine selection of restaurants, bars, cafés, hotels and wellness centers, and its local Saturday market is thriving. It has a wonderful botanical garden, museums such as “Can Prunera”, and an exhibition of works by Joan Miró and Pablo Picasso at the railway station, the former summer residence where the two artists met. Each year the town celebrates popular festivals such as “Es Firó” and offers cultural events like the Classical Music Festival in Port de Sóller.
