Sóller, a lively town in the heart of the Tramuntana, near the island’s beautiful west coast, has some of Mallorca’s most exclusive properties: townhouses, traditional country estates and elegant villas. Thanks to the free tunnel, it is only a 30-minute drive from Palma. In the 18th and 19th centuries, Sóller excelled in the international citrus trade, which led in the early 20th century to the construction of the railway from Palma. Shortly afterwards, a tram line from Sóller to the port followed. With their picturesque original carriages, the train from Palma and the wooden streetcar running between the town and the port continue to delight tourists. Sóller’s cosmopolitan lifestyle made it one of the island’s modernist highlights. Among the many Art Nouveau houses and buildings is the church of Sant Bartomeu on the main square. Sóller has first-class infrastructure: supermarkets, shops, healthcare and sports facilities. It is an ideal place for hiking, mountain biking or climbing, and Son Termens Golf Club is only a 20-minute drive away.
