NoCornellà de Terri is a town in the Pla de l'Estany region that is located between two regional capitals, Banyoles and Girona. Cornellà de Terri is composed of nine entities: the head of the municipality Cornellà de Terri, Borgonyà, Corts, Pujals dels Cavallers, Pujals dels Pagesos y Sords, and the neighborhoods of Palol de Farga, Ermedàs and Pont Xetmar, and also Sant Andreu del Terri, with the villages and neighborhoods of Ravós, Sant Andreu Santa Llogaia and the village of Prades del Terri. Its environment is eminently rural, but its proximity to these two cities means that any necessary service is at hand. In its passage through the territory of Borgonyà, the river Terri has given it its history since thanks to the force of the water two mills, a paper factory and later textile mills moved. In terms of architecture, the parish church of the XI-XII centuries in the town of Borgonyà can be highlighted, although the date of 1623 can be seen on its portal. We must also highlight a fortified house known as the Bastida, which consists of a patio interior with a stone cistern. In Ravós - Sant Andreu we find the old church of the castle which is still used today, although it has been transformed into a farmhouse. We can see the pillars of the apse, the Lombard arches, the facade and the square bell tower with battlements and a kind of pyramid that tops it. The castle also survives with certain modifications, although we can see most of the battlements and two cylindrical towers. In the Valle del Terri there is a tradition that dates back to the 17th and 18th centuries that is celebrated every Monday of Pascua Florida and is called the planting of the May Tree (Arbo de Mayo). In this party, the tallest tree around the town is chosen. It goes up to the town square and rises with the help of ropes and ladders and the strength of the assistants. During the celebration, the cuckold dance is performed, a dance that seems to symbolize the worship of rain gods or the celebration of the end of bad uses (tax that had to be paid at the time).
