Ecléctica Barcelona 2026, a new meeting point between interior design and creativity

Ecléctica Barcelona was created as a cultural initiative that connects interior design, architecture and other creative disciplines through a co-creation format between design professionals and cultural creators. The proposal forms part of the official programme of Barcelona 2026 World Capital of Architecture and will celebrate its first edition at the Círculo Ecuestre.

The Ecléctica Barcelona itinerary will be made up of twelve rooms conceived through collaboration between interior designers and figures from disciplines such as cinema, literature, gastronomy, music and fashion. The different proposals will feature names such as Isabel Coixet and Lázaro Rosa-Violán in the living room, Javier Cercas and Asun Antó in the library, and Risto Mejide and Jaime Prous in the study.

The initiative seeks to reaffirm Barcelona as an open and cross-disciplinary city, strengthening its position as one of Europe’s leading creative hubs. Over several days, the space will host different proposals and installations conceived through dialogue between design, culture and contemporary creativity.

The dining room presented at Ecléctica Barcelona will be based on a clear idea: transforming a traditional and solemn space into a warm, welcoming room designed to make people want to stay. The proposal moves away from a more classical or ceremonial vision of the dining room to imagine a more liveable and approachable space, where design seeks a balance between elegance and closeness.

The installation will incorporate natural textiles, calm tones and moving elements to create a more natural atmosphere that will engage with the architecture of the Círculo Ecuestre from a more modern perspective.

“I want something warm, elegant, but not rigid,” explains Martina Klein about the proposal conceived for Ecléctica Barcelona.

The creative connection between Martina Klein and Pía Capdevila has also been one of the project’s starting points. Both share a sensitivity linked to the blending of disciplines and a shared vision of how the dining room is experienced.

On 12 June, at 1 p.m., both protagonists will take part in a conversation open to the public, focused on the way we welcome and share at home, and on how small gestures, the table and the design of shared spaces can transform the experience of living together.

Engel & Völkers will participate in Ecléctica Barcelona as the partner of the dining room space co-created by Martina Klein and Pía Capdevila.

In addition to our presence in this installation, we will be present in different spaces and gatherings organised during the event, such as the private gathering that will take place on 11 June.

With this first edition, Ecléctica Barcelona will become part of the city’s cultural calendar as a new space dedicated to interior design, architecture and contemporary creativity.
