The town and municipality of Benidorm is located on the east coast of Spain in the province of Alicante. As part of the famous Costa Blanca, the 200 kilometres on the southeast coast of the Mediterranean in Spain, Benidorm boasts a wealth of crystal clear waters, making it a must-visit tourist town.
Benidorm has a total area of 38,51 km² with a population of 67.558 inhabitants in 2018, according to the National Institute of Statistics. The city is a fusion of skyscrapers and beaches which makes it very attractive to local and international visitors who enjoy both the relaxing atmosphere of the beaches and the surrounding nature and modern amenities the city has to offer.
Benidorm can be considered a bustling city, although there are many places, such as the old town and many large parks that offer a completely different atmosphere.
Benidorm is famous for its high hotels, buildings and offices, for example, the apartment building Intempo at 52 storeys high, is also the fifth tallest skyscraper in Spain. Visitors looking for luxury and excitement during their holidays on the Costa Blanca prefer to stay in Benidorm due to the many attractions and activities it has to offer, both natural as well as man-made.
The city got its name when it was only a small village inhabited by the arabic community. The word "Benidorm"which originates from the Arabic word "beni"which means "sons of", has been used by many other villages in Valencia as well (Beniarres, Benimuslin, Benitachell, among others). The words following 'beni' would refer to the name of the tribe or clan that inhabited the place.
Using the shortest route, via the motorway A-70 and AP-7, Benidorm is only 58.2 kilometres from Alicante International Airport. The journey takes approximately 42 minutes.

Car hire: rates depend on the company and can be booked in advance.
Taxi: taxis are available at the airport throughout the day, and the journey time to Benidorm is approximately 40 minutes in light traffic conditions. The fare for the journey is between €70 and €80.
Bus: by suburban bus Alsa, available from 6:00 am to 11:00 pm. with various departure times. The journey takes about 50 minutes in light traffic conditions and the fare is 9,45€.

The towns of Albir, Altea, Benimantell, CallosaD'enSarriá, El Castell de Guadalest, Finestrat, Villajoyosa, L'Alfáz delPí, La Nucia, Orxeta, Polop, Relleu and Tarbena are villages and towns located in the surrounding areas of Benidorm. They also have beautiful landscapes and exciting activities to offer, and are only a few minutes' drive away.
Benidorm shares the sunny and temperate climate of the Costa Blanca and the fresh air lasts almost all year round. The hottest month is July with temperatures reaching up to 29°C maximum and average daily temperatures of around 25°C. The coldest month is January, when Benidorm experiences days with a maximum temperature of only 12°C. That said, the average daily temperature in January is approximately 12°C. September is the rainiest month.
Unlike its counterpart, New Town, with its high-rise buildings and busy streets, the old town of Benidorm is the most relaxed part of the town. It has traditional Spanish-style buildings, whitewashed houses and cobbled streets, with an alley of tapas and small cafés that give it a touch of typical spanish living. The old town of Benidorm is situated at an entrance surrounded by the beaches of Poniente and Levante beaches.
Rincón de Loix is one of the most populated areas of Benidorm. It is an extensive neighbourhood that offers a large number of hotels, restaurants, bars and nightlife. Its beach on the Levante offers different types of water sports. It also internationally diverse, which can be seen in its different types of shops, restaurants and entertainment venues. The Loix Corner is located in the area of Levante, on the north side of Benidorm and is bordered by the Europa Avenue and the slope of the Sierra Helada.
With so many attractions, services and tourist destinations, there is no way to stay in Benidorm without doing something exciting. In addition to the mediterranean waters and the golden sandy beaches, Benidorm has its own theme parks and water parks, shopping centres, coves and hiking trails amongst many other attractions!
Levante Beach: this famous beach with blue flag has a length of 2 kilometres and is the most visited beach in Benidorm. There are many restaurants and bars along its italian marble promenade.
Poniente Beach: unlike Levante, this beach is a quiet and peaceful place. It has a promenade with excellent views of the sea and inexpensive restaurants.
Mal Pas Beach: a small hidden cove at the end of the road to the port, next to the old town of Benidorm, this beach is a quiet place to enjoy the sea. The waves are also calmer, which makes it ideal for children.
Finestrat Cove: just a few minutes from Benidorm, in the southwest. It is a small sandy beach with several bars and restaurants along its promenade and a large open-air market every Saturdays.
Car rental: you can reserve a car for personal use for as long as you feel necessary.
Taxis: although walking is a great way to get around the city, taxis are a great way to get around. Taxis also circulate in Benidorm at all times.
Tourist train: the tourist trains are an ideal way to explore the many attractions of Benidorm.
Bicycle rental service: the bicycles are an excellent way to get around the city while enjoying the scenery and fresh air.
Walking: walking around the city, especially on the beach or on a path near the mountain, will allow you to see and experience Benidorm and its charm more closely.
Benidorm is famous for its nightlife. This is thanks to the numerous bars, clubs and entertainment areas open late into the night. If you want to go dance the night away with a DJ or have a drink while you enjoy the music of a live band by the sea, Benidorm is the place to be. There is also the Benidorm Palace, a very popular entertainment venue in the city.
Most of the high-rise buildings in Benidorm are actually hotels and flats due to the influx of visitors, local and international, and foreigners who wish to stay in the town for long periods of time. Property developers and investors have given rise to rental units and long term rental units, as well as villas and flats for sale. Due to the various types of properties available on the market, you are sure to find one that fits your budget. Luxury accommodations in Benidorm are ubiquitous, and although they are more expensive, you will surely get your money's worth with regard to comfort, scenery, convenience and location.
