Metamorfosi is a municipality on the borders of the northern sector of the city of Athens, very close to the National Highway of Athens- Lamias. It used to be called Koukouvaunes and the modern one its name dates back to the post-war period. The center of Metamorfosi is about 9 km from the center of Athens. It has an area of 9 square kilometers and a very healthy climate. The city of Metamorfosi is the evolution of one of the oldest centers of life in the region of Attica. There is scientific evidence and archaeological evidence that proves the existence of life more than 4500 years ago. It was recognized as a Municipality in 1972 and was separated as a community from the Municipality of Athens in 1934. In the 2011 census it had 29,891 inhabitants.
