Pedraces is a district of the Alta Badia holiday region, in the heart of the Dolomites, which have been a UNESCO World Heritage Site for 10 years now. The village lies at 1,315 metres above sea level and offers a very beautiful panorama. It is surrounded by the mountains Heiligkreuzkofel, Gardenaccia, Lagazuoi, Conturines and La Varela, whose peaks rise over two thousand, sometimes even over three thousand metres. In summer, numerous hikers, mountain bikers and mountaineers also romp around here, who can choose from countless easy to challenging trails in the legendary mountains of the neighbouring Fanes-Sennes-Prags and Puez-Geisler nature parks. A popular excursion destination is the idyllic Sompunt Lake, which is located slightly above the village and can be reached on foot or by mountain bike. In winter, the mountain lake is transformed into an ice-skating rink. If you visit Pedraces in winter, the Alta Badia ski area and the famous Sellaronda ski carousel are just a few minutes away. However, since the village is a bit away from the big holiday centres, it is also appreciated by those seeking peace and quiet.
