Casa Melograno is located in Stromboli, on Via Pola, between San Vincenzo and Ficogrande, just a few steps below the island’s main square, where you'll find the Church of San Vincenzo, the panoramic terrace with its unique view over Strombolicchio, and the famous Bar Ingrid. A few meters from the house are the beaches of Punta Lena, Ficogrande, and Scari — all easily reachable on foot, without the need for local transportation. Stromboli is the northernmost of the Aeolian Islands, located off the Tyrrhenian coast of Sicily. It lies just over an hour by boat from Milazzo, and about two hours from Messina, the provincial capital. During the summer season, it is also well connected to the ports of Naples, Tropea, Reggio Calabria, Palermo, and Capo d’Orlando, with regular ferry and hydrofoil services. An additional way to reach the island is via the helicopter landing pad located in Ficogrande, right on the seafront. The island spans just over 12 square kilometers and is home to the only permanently active volcano in Europe — Stromboli, also known locally as “Iddu.” Its spectacular and regular explosive activity along the so-called Sciara del Fuoco has earned Stromboli the nickname “Lighthouse of the Tyrrhenian.” Stromboli has a population of just over 400 inhabitants. The main residential areas are San Vincenzo (with the port of Scari), and the districts of Piscità and Ficogrande. To the southwest, reachable only by sea, lies the small village of Ginostra, home to about 30–40 residents. About one and a half kilometers off the coast of Stromboli lies the Strombolicchio Rock, the oldest volcanic cone of Stromboli, now extinct. Located just a few hundred meters from the shore, it hosts a solar-powered lighthouse — behind which the sun rises every morning.
