Vigne di Fagnano is on the hill of Santo Stefano Belbo, birthplace of Cesare Pavese, on the border between the Langhe and Monferrato, in a splendid landscape full of vineyards and woods. The strategic position makes it the perfect place for experiential stays in the fields of sport and yoga, food and wine, art and culture, discovering landscapes, wellness and relaxation. Santo Stefano Belbo is a charming town in the province of Cuneo. Its territory stretches on the edge of the Langhe, on an area rich in hills. The most famous son of S. Stefano Belbo is the writer Cesare Pavese, whose native house is the site of an important museum and after whom the famous 'Percorso pavesiano' (Pavese route) is named, which touches landscapes and places from his famous books. From an artistic point of view, the imposing remains of the Romanesque abbey of San Gaudenzio, at the foot of the Moncucco hill, are worthy of note. The building recalls the period when the Benedictine monks, as well as tilling the land to dedicate to the cultivation of vines, offered hospitality to pilgrims. The Moncucco sanctuary, dedicated to the Madonna della Neve (Our Lady of the Snow), on the top of the hill that almost seems to land on the centre of the village, is of great beauty. The settlement of Santo Stefano Belbo probably dates back to after 1000, but it is certain that the village was of considerable importance during the feudal period, of which the ruins of one of the towers of the ancient castle remain. The town comes alive throughout the year with characteristic wine and food events, the most noteworthy of which is the Fiera dei 'cubiot' (lovers' fair) held at the beginning of December. Among the stalls and tastings set up along the streets, one can delight in the friendly figure of the 'bacialé', the character from the Langa tradition who used to hoard coats thanks to his ability to mediate love between the young people of the area. Santo Stefano Belbo, the town of 'good living', half an hour from Alba, Barolo and Barbaresco, 40 minutes from Asti, and an hour from Liguria. Milan and Turin can be reached in just over an hour, Genoa in 2 hour.
