Description

In the municipality of Gignese, in a secluded and commanding location, stands a charming villa offering stunning panoramic views of Lake Maggiore, the smaller lakes, and the surrounding mountains, all within a setting of absolute tranquility and privacy. The property is located within an exclusive residential complex called “Il Fauno,” in the Alpino area, between Stresa and Mottarone, characterized by vacation homes and a concierge service. The villa underwent a complete renovation in 2016, carried out with great attention to detail and the quality of materials. Upon entering the spacious and exceptionally bright foyer—thanks to the large floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the lakes—you are immediately greeted by an elegant and refined atmosphere. The entrance leads to the living area, comprising a living room, dining room, and kitchen—spaces designed to allow the home to flow seamlessly with the outdoors; in fact, the living room and dining room open directly onto the splendid panoramic terrace and covered porch, perfect for al fresco lunches and dinners. A few steps up lead to the first sleeping area, consisting of the refined master bedroom with a private balcony and en-suite bathroom. The floor is completed by an additional guest bathroom and a convenient storage room. On the lower floor, connected internally, there is a spacious living room featuring a magnificent stone fireplace of American origin, personally selected by the owners in Los Angeles. On the same level are two bedrooms and two bathrooms, one of which is en-suite, as well as a storage room, laundry room, wine cellar, utility room, and an additional outdoor porch directly connected to the garden. The property is surrounded by a well-maintained garden of approximately 2,400 square meters, offering privacy, tranquility, and panoramic views of rare beauty over the surrounding landscape. Stone floors sourced from a French quarry in the living area on the main floor and hardwood flooring in the sleeping quarters and on the lower level create a harmonious balance between texture and domestic warmth. The steel-reinforced, wood-clad windows, equipped with triple-pane glass, ensure maximum security and living comfort, as well as excellent thermal and acoustic insulation, in line with the most modern efficiency standards. The villa is sold fully furnished, with a top-tier interior design, meticulously curated down to the smallest detail and largely featuring Ralph Lauren furnishings, as well as decorative objects and elements carefully selected over the years. The atmosphere is that of an elegant “buen retiro”—warm, sophisticated, and consistent throughout every room. A property with a strong personality, designed for those seeking an exclusive retreat immersed in nature, yet conveniently located near the highway exit, just 45 minutes from Milan Malpensa International Airport, and a few minutes from the area’s famous golf courses.

Location: Armeno, Piedmont

Gignese is a renowned resort town that lies halfway between Stresa and Mottarone, as well as on the Due Riviere road that connects Lake Maggiore with Lake Orta. In the mid-19th century it was the vacation destination of the most renowned Lombard painters, and numerous villas sprang up in this era that breathed new life into the village. Right here is the beautiful Alpinia Botanical Garden, a 40,000sqm park that is home to many botanical species from the alpine and subalpine belt from various parts of the world. From Gignese you will have the possibility to quickly reach Stresa and visit the beauties offered by the pearl of Lake Maggiore such as the gardens and the sumptuous palaces of the Borromean Islands, or spend days of sporting activities near Mottarone, a mountain of about 1,500m above sea level that in winter becomes a ski resort and in summer offers beautiful trekking walks but also adrenaline thrills with Alpyland, a roller coaster with two-seater wagons overlooking the Borromean Gulf. There are several restaurants in Gignese and on the top of Mottarone, where you can taste simple traditional local dishes, absolutely healthy cuisine and an expert eye on the choice of raw materials, always of the highest quality. Very characteristic is the hamlet of Vezzo, believed to be of Roman, if not Gallic, origin. The village had some notable families, with ecclesiastics, notaries and public officials: Visconti, Calandra, De Antonis. The most characteristic spot in the village is the small central square or Piazza Caduti where, at the foot of the pink granite steps leading up to the parish church, there is a centuries-old horse chestnut tree surrounded by a sarizzo ring, formerly a well vera. Vezzo is also home to the famous 9-hole Stresa Alpino Golf Club; founded in 1924, it is one of the oldest courses in Italy. The club is situated on a green natural terrace at 700 meters above sea level and is located in one of the most characteristic areas of Lake Maggiore among beautiful natural and centuries-old forests only 7 km from Stresa. Of interest are the offerings of its restaurant lit by large windows overlooking hole 9, with a terrace for outdoor dining surrounded by greenery.
