In Venice, choosing the most beautiful corner is almost impossible, but Campo San Boldo is certainly one of the city’s most enchanting spots.
On the border between the San Polo and Santa Croce districts, surrounded by canals and hidden gardens where lush vegetation spills over the walls, we cross the square to reach Palazzo Grioni, once home to the Church of San Bolo.
What distinguishes the palazzo from Venice’s sixteenth-century buildings is a unique feature: in the early nineteenth century, the structure incorporated the truncated bell tower of the former Church of San Boldo, making it a rare and distinctive element.
We pass through the majestic entrance to the building and are amazed by the 7-metre-high ceilings. In the entrance hall, we also find the convenient windowed storage room on our left.
We continue up the elegant marble staircase until we reach the entrance to the apartment on the third floor.
A majestic Istrian-stone doorway welcomes us into the spacious living room, where the light and open views over the city rooftops immediately capture our attention.
Four large windows, the original exposed beams, elegant geometric mouldings and the Venetian terrazzo floors, all in excellent condition, make this the perfect living space in which to relax after a romantic stroll.
Following the gentle morning light, we reach the master bedroom, where three windows flood the room with sunshine. An old fireplace embellished with a bas-relief and a convenient bathroom complete the eastern side of the property.
The eat-in kitchen, offering views of the skyline and gondolas passing along the canal below, immediately inspires thoughts of unforgettable lunches in company.
A second bedroom, bathed in the light of the sunset, and a windowed en-suite bathroom complete the property.
A residence of romantic allure, where the prestige of a piano nobile meets the pleasure of an intimate atmosphere.
