The Circeo promontory rises majestically along the Tyrrhenian coast of Lazio, within the Circeo National Park, between the localities of Sabaudia and San Felice Circeo. This limestone massif, reaching into the Tyrrhenian Sea for about 6 kilometers, represents one of the most characteristic geological and scenic formations of the Pontine coastline. Via del Faro winds along the western side of the promontory, offering a panoramic route that directly overlooks the sea. The road is named after the ancient **Capo Circeo lighthouse**, located at the southern tip of the promontory, a maritime landmark and symbol of the village. Immersed in Mediterranean scrub, Via del Faro connects the historic center of San Felice Circeo to the top of the promontory and the lighthouse itself, traversing a landscape rich in spontaneous vegetation, coastal caves, and spectacular views of the Tyrrhenian. The privileged position of the promontory and Via del Faro offers unique views toward the Pontine Islands, particularly Ponza, and on the clearest days, even towards Ischia and the Gulf of Gaeta. Besides its scenic importance, this area is also of great historical and mythological value: it is said that the sorceress Circe lived here, from whom the promontory takes its name.
