Corso Vittorio Emanuele is one of the longest and best-known streets in Naples, offering visitors splendid views and interesting architecture to admire. It has an ancient and fascinating history: it was commissioned and conceived by Ferdinand II of Bourbon to create a road that could be easily reached from Naples’ beating heart, Via Toledo, and that could connect the Piedigrotta area with the city’s hillside district. We are in one of the most beautiful parts of Naples, linking the Chiaia district and the Vomero district. Corso Vittorio Emanuele and the surrounding area are well served by public transport (buses, the Cumana railway and as many as three funiculars), as well as by a wide variety of shops, pharmacies, cafés and restaurants. The historic center and the famous Via Toledo can be reached on foot by crossing the distinctive and atmospheric Spanish Quarters, a destination for many Italian and foreign tourists. By using the Central Funicular and the Chiaia Funicular, it is possible to reach in a few minutes the Vomero district, Via Toledo, or the very central Piazza Amedeo, where both metro lines are located.
