Description
The Mill is located in eastern Tuscany, in upper Casentino, in the heart of the Teggina Valley, and is surrounded by greenery, within a romantic setting just outside an ancient village of Lombard origin, among ancient pievi and historic castles, near well-known monasteries such as those of Camaldoli and La Verna, and bordering the Parco delle Foreste Casentinesi. The original construction of the Watermill dates back to the early 1800s, and is made of stone and chestnut wood; from 1997 to 1999 it was carefully restored and meticulously recovered to revive an old-time dwelling in a land rich in history, art, culture and gastronomy. The Mill can be reached by following an old mule track along the stream or on foot from the picturesque stone village with a distance of 300 meters.
Confidentiality is guaranteed by the fact that the Mill offers a rare intimacy, maximum tranquility, with exclusive and independent use of the small park on the river, the surrounding chestnut forest and the circular swimming pool inserted inside the natural pool carved into the rock. This corner of paradise gives total privacy with excellent sun exposure. The pool is equipped with chaise-longues with which you can relax, swing in the water and sunbathe to the notes of soft background music, which together with the sound of the stream flowing beside you, creates complete bliss. The aromatic herb garden, adjacent to the pool, is a place dedicated to reading a book or drinking a good glass of wine while being gently enveloped by the aroma of mint, rosemary, wild fennel, sage and oregano. The interior of the Mill is finely furnished and fully equipped, with a room that is built around the 4 old stone millstones and with the kitchen area equipped with a refrigerator, stove and barbecue with lava stone, and a delightful old sink; the sleeping area on the upper floor, all made of chestnut wood, has a double bedroom, a twin bedroom and a bathroom with shower.
The Mill has a total area of about 70 square meters plus about 40 square meters of outdoor pergolas and a brick structure where there is an oven, barbecue and a small storage room.
Outside there are two verandas, which allow you to live the day in close contact with nature, near the large wood-burning oven, thanks to which it will be a pleasure to cook recreating those smells and tastes of the past, such as freshly baked bread and pizza. Next to the wood-burning oven is a stone barbecue, for barbecuing any Tuscan specialty.
During the winter period, heating is operated by both a double-burning wood stove with forced ventilation and a heat pump; the latter, during the summer, provides coolers with personalized air conditioning. Respect for tradition is combined with every modern comfort. Due to its environmental characteristics, the Mill is especially suitable for true connoisseurs and nature lovers seeking silence, tranquility and relaxation.
The village where the property is located is in a strategic geographical position, a reference point for a number of very interesting places to visit.
