Description
In the heart of the historic village of Monteleone, a hamlet of Roncofreddo in the inland Romagna area, a charming late-19th-century house is for sale, fully renovated in 2012 with great care in preserving original materials and ensuring modern comfort. The property is located in Piazza Byron, one of the most distinctive areas of the village, just a few steps from the historic castle, and enlivened by events, concerts and cultural festivals, especially during the summer season.
The home is arranged over two main levels. On the entrance floor, directly overlooking the square, there is a spacious living room, an eat-in kitchen, a guest half-bath, a separate lounge area, and a rear terrace with a splendid panoramic view over the valley, perfect for outdoor dinners and convivial moments in a private, quiet setting. On the upper floor there are three bedrooms and two bathrooms, ideal for a family or for hosting friends and relatives in total comfort.
On the basement level, the house also features a large garage and utility rooms used as a laundry and storage area, providing practical, convenient spaces for every need. The property is completed by a plot of about 1,500 square metres, currently wooded, offering the possibility of creating a private garden surrounded by greenery or simply enjoying a natural reserve right outside the door.
The location is particularly strategic: the village of Monteleone is set in the peace of the Romagna hills yet is only a few minutes from the municipality of Montiano, where all main services are available, and is well connected to Cesena, the Adriatic coast and the main transport routes.
This house is an ideal solution for those who wish to live in an authentic, history-rich setting without giving up comfort, privacy and the beauty of the Romagna hilly landscape.

The property is located in Piazza Byron, in the heart of the small village of Monteleone, a historic hamlet of the municipality of Roncofreddo, in the Province of Forlì-Cesena. It is a place full of charm and memory, where time seems to have stood still, preserving intact the village’s medieval soul. The house looks directly onto the castle that dominates the town center and represents the historical and visual focal point of the entire village.
Monteleone’s origins date back at least to 1233, when the village, then called Monleonis, held a strategic, commanding position over the Cesena hinterland. The castle, which still defines the village’s architectural and landscape identity, retains significant elements of its defensive structure, such as the steeply battered walls on the east side, reinforced between the 15th and 17th centuries, and a corner tower of likely Malatesta origin.
A short grassy path leads up to the castle entrance, now privately owned and not open to visitors, which overlooks the square together with the parish church, moved here around 1520. The square itself is named after the English poet George Byron, a frequent guest at the castle, then owned by Alessandro Guiccioli, a member of Emilia’s central administration and the husband of Teresa Gamba, Byron’s lover.
