Location: Porto Cervo, Sardinia
Cala Granu is a fantastic tiny bay nestled like a gem among the Mediterranean shrub and reddish granite rocks. The beach is sheltered from the winds and has shallow waters that make it perfect for family and kids. The name Cala Granu - which means Bay of the Wheat - dates back to antiquity. The lands behind the shoreline were used to grow wheat by the farmers of Monti di Mola (the name of the area now called Costa Smeralda) until the '50s. During summer one can admire the boats anchored offshored with the Capo Ferro lighthouse in the background.
