The village of Nebbiuno lies in the Province of Novara, within the strip of Piedmontese land bordering Lake Maggiore. A town with a rich history, Arona was long controlled by the wealthy and powerful Borromeo family: Saint Charles Borromeo was born here, in the castle, in 1538.

The town is home to numerous churches and squares, including the Church of the Holy Martyrs, with its fifteenth-century frescoes from the Leonardesque school, and the Collegiate Church of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary. Moving on to the town’s medieval heart, we discover Piazza del Popolo, with its old-world houses and pier, topped by a small lighthouse and a favourite destination for tourists. However, Arona’s most important and fascinating monument is undoubtedly the colossal statue of Saint Charles Borromeo. Standing approximately 35 metres tall, it ranks as the second-tallest statue in the world, surpassed only by the Statue of Liberty.

Arona also offers tourists a variety of activities: a historic centre filled with shops and restaurants, a beautiful lakeside promenade, and lidos and small beaches where visitors can spend warm summer days.
