Location: Lenno, Lombardy
Tremezzina, a lakeside town situated on the central-western shore of Lake Como, is one of the most famous and prestigious locations in the area. The town of Lenno is well known both for its beautiful lakeside promenade, where there are numerous restaurants, shops, wine bars and amenities overlooking the Gulf of Venus, and for the beautiful Villa del Balbianello; the latter is a residence open to the public which, last year, was the second most visited property of the FAI (Fondo Ambiente Italiano, a cultural association) in Italy. Its proximity and ease of access to key transport links, such as Malpensa Airport, which is easily reached in about an hour’s drive, the city of Milan, 70 km away, and the city of Lugano in Switzerland, a half-hour’s drive away, have helped make Tremezzina one of the most sought-after locations on Lake Como. Tremezzina is situated opposite the world-famous town of Bellagio, which can be reached in just 10 minutes by boat. For lovers of winter sports or summer mountaineering, the most prestigious Alpine resorts are within easy reach; St. Moritz is just an hour and a half’s drive away, and Livigno, a duty-free zone where you can shop amongst the ski slopes, is about a two-hour drive away.
