The property is located in the Ragusa area, precisely in Chiaramonte Gulfi, a beautiful center in the Iblean hinterland. Ragusa, declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site, has the peculiarity and privilege of having within its territory not only the renowned Baroque historical centers, such as Scicli and Modica, but also other towns, perhaps less known, but of rare beauty, Chiaramonte being one of them. North of Ragusa, it has always been called the "balcony of Sicily" for its panoramic position, as the view stretches from Etna to the sea. Of ancient origin, it has witnessed, with mixed fortunes, all the dominations that have invaded Sicily. The ancient name was Akrillai, later it was called Gulfi, and finally, in 1296, Manfredi Chiaramonte, Count of Modica, gave the city his family's name, with a medieval layout, surrounded by walls and with a castle. After the 1693 earthquake, which almost razed it to the ground, it was rebuilt on the same site. In the 1800s it was renamed Chiaramonte Gulfi. Today it is a beautiful town perched on the hill, full of churches with Baroque facades. Chiaramonte is the heart of olive oil production, derived from the ancient variety of "tonda iblea", of exceptional quality, it has won several international awards, protected by the DOP Monti Iblei consortium.
