Rivarolo Canavese is a modestly sized town in the province of Turin, located in the heart of the Canavese area, among gentle hills, cultivated fields, and tranquil rivers. It is a region rich in nature, history, and tradition. With about twelve thousand inhabitants, it is a well-served, lively town with a strong identity. The town center is compact and complete. Along the main street with double arcades, Via Ivrea, there are historic bars, shops, boutiques, pharmacies, tobacconists, bookstores, hairdressers, and artisanal ice cream parlors. It also offers other services, such as the hospital, schools of all levels, parks for children, sports centers, a bike path, the theater, the modern library, various restaurants, supermarkets, and weekly markets. There is no shortage of cultural and sports associations for social life. In addition to being a very active town, it is also well connected to road and rail infrastructure. Just 15 minutes from the highway, you can easily reach Turin, Ivrea, the Aosta Valley, and the Gran Paradiso Park, or by train from the railway station, thanks to the Canavesana GTT line. Among the main attractions of Rivarolo are the Malgrà Castle, once a symbol of feudal power, the Church of San Michele, and the Giant Bench of Kindness. For hiking enthusiasts, outside the center, there are many secondary roads in the countryside to explore by bike or on foot. Originally, Rivarolo was called Ripalorium, meaning a village near a riverbank. It was once not a united city but a place contested and divided between two noble families, the Counts of San Martino and the Counts of Valperga. In 1358, the Savoys, lords of these lands, granted Rivarolo the Statutes, and the town gained rights, freedom, and its own voice. In the 18th century, it was embellished in Baroque style, with elegant churches and palaces, and in the following two centuries, the industry, especially textiles, developed. Finally, towards the end of the 1800s, Rivarolo acquired the official title of City.
