Filicudi is one of the seven islands that form the Aeolian archipelago, located off the north-eastern coast of Sicily in the Tyrrhenian Sea. It is among the oldest islands of the archipelago, shaped by volcanic activity dating back approximately one million years. Its highest point is Monte Fossa Felci (about 774 metres), an ancient extinct volcanic crater. Filicudi is a mountainous and unspoilt island, characterised by wild landscapes and lush Mediterranean vegetation. The island is renowned for its dramatic cliffs, sea caves—such as the evocative Grotta del Bue Marino—and seabeds rich in biodiversity, attracting divers from all over the world. The property is located in the hamlet of Val di Chiesa, a hillside area of the island situated midway between Monte delle Felci and the coastline. Here, the luxuriant Aeolian vegetation frames spectacular elevated sea views, with the iconic silhouette of Stromboli visible on the horizon. Undoubtedly the most authentic area of the island, Val di Chiesa lies far from the liveliness of the port and offers a haven of peace and tranquillity, allowing for a deep connection with the wild and untouched nature of Filicudi. The area takes its name from the Church of Santo Stefano, which overlooks the valley from above. The surrounding homes are traditional Aeolian dammusi, carefully restored while strictly preserving the distinctive Filicudi style, with characteristic loggias and pulere terraces. The property is easily accessible by local transport. Within a few minutes by vehicle, or approximately a 30-minute walk, one can reach the island’s beautiful beaches, including Pecorini a Mare—known for its pebbled shore and crystal-clear waters—as well as Capo Graziano and Le Punte. Connections to mainland Italy are provided by ferry and hydrofoil services from the ports of Milazzo, Messina, Palermo and Naples.
