Ranco, a village of about 1,300 inhabitants, is located on a promontory on the Lombardy shore of Lake Maggiore, off the main connecting road (Luino–Laveno–Sesto), and is well served by hotels and restaurants, grocery shops, a pharmacy, and bus and ferry connections. Ranco is also known for its beaches and is not far from Angera, a small town famous for the 13th-century Rocca di Angera, owned by the Borromeo family. The whole area around Ranco and Angera features beautiful beaches, valuable natural reserves such as the Gulf of Quassa and the Bruschera Nature Reserve, lakefront promenades and vineyards that make the landscape unique. In the many restaurants and bars you can enjoy relaxing moments with the region’s typical (fish) dishes, have an aperitif or an ice cream while strolling along the lake.
