Colonno is one of the most authentic villages on the western shore of Lake Como. The Lake Como Greenway begins in Colonno, one of the most picturesque walking routes in the area, passing through villages, gardens, historic villas and scenic stretches along the sunny Tremezzina. The walk allows you to discover the area at a leisurely pace, passing through ancient villages, lake views, terraced fields, churches, stately homes and Mediterranean gardens, in a natural balance between alpine landscape and lakeside atmosphere. The location also allows you to easily reach some of the best-known towns in the central Lake District, such as Tremezzina and Menaggio, with their restaurants, promenades, amenities and water transport links. Como, the provincial capital, is about 25 kilometres away, whilst Milan Malpensa International Airport and Lugano-Agno Airport can be reached in about an hour’s drive. Colonno’s location also offers an appealing balance between lake and mountains: the main Alpine ski resorts, both in Italy and Switzerland, can be reached in around two hours, whilst in just over two hours the Ligurian Riviera opens up to a completely different landscape, featuring the sea, coastal villages and Mediterranean scents.
