Dormelletto is a small municipality near Lake Maggiore, located between Arona and Castelletto Ticino. It is divided into two main areas: the area directly facing the lake and hosting numerous small beaches, and the hilly area consisting of the town centre and the Lagoni Natural Park. The municipality is famous for horse-racing and the breeding of racehorses, including the celebrated Ribot. In fact, it is no coincidence that the municipality's coat of arms depicts a galloping horse with the St. Andrew's cross, which was painted on an external wall of Villa Tesio, the historic site of the last breeding of English thoroughbreds of the 'Dormello-Olgiata' breed. From the town, it is possible to access the Parco dei Lagoni, a nature reserve that was recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2011, perfect for walking in the shade of its impressive vegetation or taking a mountain bike ride. The town also offers numerous events throughout the year, from the parade of floats during the dormellettese Carnival to the Festa al campo, which is held every year in the summer and welcomes you with good local food and themed musical evenings. Situated in an excellent location due to its proximity to the motorway and Malpensa airport, this small town is perfect for those who love peace and quiet close to the lake.
