Castiglione Falletto is one of the villages in the "Langa del Barolo," an area recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2014. Upon entering the town of Castiglione Falletto “via Roma” street, where the property is located, you arrive at Piazza del Centro, formerly known as “Piazza della Balada” (Dance Square), as it hosted the village festival dances. A short ascent leads to the imposing fortress. Going down Via Marconi and turning left into Via Cavour one walks right under the ramparts that reach dizzying heights, leaning against the sandstone benches bordered by three corner turrets. Passing in front of the chapel of the “Confraternita dei Battuti” (Confraternity of the Beaten), dedicated to St. Anne, you reach the foot of the access ramp to the Castle. Castiglione Falletto Castle was built by Bertoldo Falletti of Alba, who had received the place as a fief from the Marquises of Saluzzo. The Falletti family, owners until the end of the 17th century, wanted to add their name to that of the village. Returning to the central square, you can walk along “Via della Fontane” (Fountaines Street), a path that descends among the three ancient terracotta reservoirs, the last water reserve of the village in times of drought, to return with a wide circle to the entrance of the village. Alternatively, from the central square, taking the ancient moat road, you can complete the full tour of the historical nucleus of Castiglione Falletto, overlooking the slopes of the surrounding hills.
