Valldemossa is a picturesque mountain village, 30 minutes by car from Palma. The village is known for its textiles, lace, and refined handicrafts. A variety of shops, restaurants, and typical patisseries are located in its lively center. The carefully selected properties found here are unique and characterized by their authenticity and the quality of life offered. The main attraction of the village is the royal Carthusian monastery, which was originally the palace for Sancho I (King of Mallorca). Today, the Carthusian monastery houses parts of the original palace, an incredibly beautiful garden, a monastery, and a traditional pharmacy. In its church, one can admire frescoes by Bayeu. Additionally, the monastery houses a 16th-century printing press, the archive of Archduke Ludwig Salvator, and a gallery for contemporary art. Another attraction is the museum of Frédéric Chopin and George Sand. The two artists stayed in the monastery between 1838 and 1839. As a result of this stay, Sand's book "A Winter in Mallorca" was created, as well as various compositions by Chopin. Since 1981, music lovers can enjoy the Chopin Festival every year. Local festivals include the Feast of Saint Catherine Thomas, who hails from the village and is the only official saint of the Balearic Islands. The festival is celebrated around July 28. Valldemossa is located in the Tramuntana mountain range, which was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2011. Due to its location, the village is ideal for hiking, climbing, and cycling. The Son Termes golf course is only 10 minutes away by car, and the port of Valldemossa has a small pier and a beautiful pebble beach.
