Valldemossa is a picturesque mountain village, a 30-minute drive from Palma. The village is known for its textiles, lace, and refined handicrafts. A variety of shops, restaurants, and traditional pastry shops are located in its lively center. The carefully selected properties found here are unique and stand out for their authenticity and the quality of life they offer. The village’s main attraction is the Royal Charterhouse, which originally served as the palace of Sancho I (King of Mallorca). Today, the Charterhouse contains parts of the original palace, an incredibly beautiful garden, a monastery, and a traditional pharmacy. In its church, you can admire frescoes by Bayeu. The Charterhouse also houses a 16th-century printing press, the archive of Archduke Ludwig Salvator, and a contemporary art gallery. Another attraction is the museum of Frédéric Chopin and George Sand. The two artists lived in the monastery between 1838 and 1839. As a result of this stay, Sand’s book “A Winter in Majorca” was created, as well as various compositions by Chopin. Since 1981, music lovers have been able to enjoy the Chopin Festival every year. Local festivities include the feast of Saint Catherine Thomas, who was born in the village and is the only officially recognized saint of the Balearic Islands. The feast is celebrated around July 28. Valldemossa lies in the Tramuntana Mountains, which were declared a UNESCO World Natural Heritage Site in 2011. Thanks to its location, the village is ideal for hiking, climbing, and cycling. The Son Termes golf course is only a 10-minute drive away, and the Port of Valldemossa has a small pier and a beautiful pebble beach.
