The parish of Corval belongs to the municipality of Reguengos de Monsaraz and is made up of three settlements: Carrapatelo, Santo António do Baldio and São Pedro do Corval, the village that houses the parish seat. It is, like many other parishes in the Alentejo, a rural parish, but one where pottery is the most important economic activity. It is the largest pottery centre in the Iberian Peninsula, with 22 active potteries. The typical local dish is Açorda de Alho (garlic stew), which goes well with the local wines produced by Carmim, and the parish maintains lively cultural associations that organise activities in the village and abroad. It also has a local radio station, which began as a pirate 35 years ago and continues to broadcast to the Alentejo - and the world.
