Carrasco is today one of the most outstanding and exclusive neighborhoods of the Uruguayan capital, bordered to the east by the department of Canelones, to the west by Punta Gorda and to the south by the Rio de La Plata. This neighborhood is characterized by its exceptional tranquility and excellent woodland; it also maintains a line of low building heights, which allows it to enjoy much less population density than other neighborhoods of the city, combining a good urban design with exclusivity. The Rambla of Montevideo finds in Carrasco one of its best manifestations from the landscape point of view, its beach is the most extensive of the city. In Carrasco we find the headquarters of one of the most relevant social and sports clubs: The Lawn Tennis Club. Arocena Avenue is an important commercial axis of high level in Carrasco, ends in the promenade with the Hotel Sofitel Casino Carrasco, an emblematic restored building of the early twentieth century, which today is characterized by being the most luxurious hotel in the city.
