A vibrant shopping and tourist district, with beautiful neoclassical homes lining its streets, it is one of Athens’ most charming neighbourhoods. The charming area of Koukaki, sprawled at the feet of the Acropolis, has been voted as one of the most interesting neighbourhoods in the world (at least according to Airbnb). It's not hard to see why it made the list: As one of the fastest-growing precincts of central Athens, Koukaki has seen an explosion of hip restaurants, bars and boutiques, attracting a young crowd of students, creatives and Instagrammers, all the while retaining the warmth and intimacy of 1960s Athens. Koukaki offers a good base to discover the charms of Athens and its most renowned sites, the Acropolis and the Acropolis Museum. The Museum for Contemporary Art is housed here too and two of Athens’ cultural venues – the Onassis Cultural Centre and the Stavros Niarchos Foundation are a short drive away. Extremely well-connected by the metro (Syngrou- Fix and Acropolis stops), tram, bus services to the rest of Athens. The airport is 50 minutes to an hour away by express train and direct buses and Piraeus Port is a short 30 minute ride away by bus.
