The Chalet of Val Cannobina

A few kilometers from the Swiss border lies the beautiful town of Cannobio. The ancient village of Roman origins, located between the lake and mountains, has preserved its historical charm; a walk through the streets of the medieval historic center is a must, followed by an aperitif at one of the many bars along the lakeside. The Lido of Cannobio is the most well-known on Lake Maggiore, which in this area has received the prestigious Blue Flag award from the Foundation for Environmental Education. A strong point of this beautiful beach is also the presence of the wind, making it an ideal place for sailing sports, a true paradise for kite surfers and windsurfers. Just above Cannobio, numerous trekking trails start from the characteristic villages of Gurro and Finero in the Cannobina Valley, the northern access point to the Val Grande National Park, the largest wilderness area of the Alps. The village is accessible via State Road 34, which from Gravellona Toce (VB) leads to the state border with nearby Switzerland or through hydrofoil and ferry lines that connect the village with other municipalities of the lake. From Cannobio, it is also possible to take the Provincial Road 75 of the Cannobina Valley, which leads to the valley of the same name, from where you can reach Val Vigezzo, the famous Valley of the Painters that enchants visitors with its picturesque scenery.
