Randa, with its numerous hamlets, is the third-highest municipality in the Mattertal valley and is situated approximately 9 km from Zermatt. It is the ideal destination for nature-loving and peace-seeking visitors who also wish to enjoy all the amenities of Zermatt. The Matterhorn-Gotthard Railway takes you to Zermatt in just 15 minutes, and from there to Switzerland’s highest ski resort, the Matterhorn Ski Paradise, with around 360 kilometres of groomed slopes of all levels of difficulty. Or you can enjoy plenty of snow and sunshine on the well-maintained cross-country trails of the Mattertal. In summer, the programme includes relaxing walks through flowering mountain meadows, adventurous hikes through unspoilt high-altitude forests, glacier crossings and classic high-altitude mountain tours. Randa is the most unspoilt village in the Zermatt-Täsch-Randa tourist destination and, with Switzerland’s highest mountain, the Dom, and the Weisshorn, boasts a proud mountaineering tradition. Golfers can play on a 9-hole ‘alpine parkland’ course between Täsch and Randa, with views of the Breithorn and Klein Matterhorn.
