San Roque is a Spanish municipality and city located in the area of ​​the Strait of Gibraltar, that is, in the extreme southeast of the province of Cádiz, in the autonomous community of Andalusia. It belongs to the Campo de Gibraltar region and its association with municipalities. It is the third city in its region, part of the Campo de Gibraltar metropolitan area, and the eleventh in the province. The economy of San Roque is based on the chemical, oil and energy industry, belonging to the municipality the most important industrial estate in Andalusia, which includes the Gibraltar-San Roque refinery and a power plant. The industrial sector is complemented by tourism, especially the high-level, centred on the luxury development Sotogrande and the Valderrama golf course, home to major European and world championships, such as the 1997 Ryder Cup.
