Mouraria is one of the most traditional neighborhoods of the city of Lisbon, which owes its name to the fact that it was in this neighborhood who remained the moors after the Christian reconquest. Nowadays, Mouraria became a quite busy and cozy place and is considered one of the most safe neighborhoods of the capital. It is a meeting point for people of different cultures and, simultaneously, a location that keeps alive their ancient popular traditions, as can be confirmed by the existence of several fado houses, bars, tavernas and local cultural and sporting clubs, side by side to Chinese and Indian shops, among others.
