Kastelbell-Tschars: Starting point of the most beautiful hiking trails in the region. More than 50 km of marked hiking trails can be found around Kastelbell-Tschars. Some of the most beautiful ones start in the tranquil village of Galsaun, whose historic farmhouses extend over the "Sonnenberg" mountain and into the valley. Old structures and new buildings, agricultural holidays and apple orchards along the Etsch river, in the background the manor of "Kasten" with its chapel - this is how the holiday resort of Kastelbell-Tschars, at an altitude of 580 metres above sea level and with a population of around 2,300, presents itself to its visitors. The alpine cultural landscape of the mountains that frame the Vinschgau Valley is largely characterised by high pastures and alpine meadows. Especially in the surroundings of Kastelbell-Tschars there are an exceptionally large number of managed alpine huts, which have increasingly become rest stops and inns for hikers and mountain bikers. In the valley of cultural creators, marble villages and gourmets, the tradition is not only preserved, but with a great pioneering spirit it is constantly developed further and combined with the new. The prairie-like sunny side of the Vinschgau Valley between Kastelbell and Tschars allows delicate wines, fruits for noble spirits and fine asparagus to ripen. Easy to reach, whether via the Reschenpass or the Brenner motorway, the car can safely stay in the garage, because in addition to an excellent public transport network, bike shuttles also offer rides to the excursion destinations.
