The small village of Castiglione derives its name from Castrum Leonis, defensive bulwark that in the early Middle Ages protected the local population from maritime raids. Today a tiny outpost on the route to Amalfi, Castiglione still offers tranquility and family atmosphere just as it once was. Just 150 meters away there is the Bar del Bivio, bar service and small supermarket for basic necessities, while in Atrani (800 meters) and Amalfi (3 Km) you can find restaurants, bars, craft shops of clothing and souvenirs. Visiting the surrounding areas is very easy even without a car thanks to its location only 150 meters from the main SITA bus lines and pedestrian paths. The apartment is an ideal base for visiting Ravello (4 km) and its gorgeous villas, terraces and gardens, and attend the prestigious Ravello Music Festival. Equally easy to connect to and from Salerno Railway Station (20 km). From Amalfi you can rent boats or embark on ferries (seasonal service spring/ summer) to Salerno, Positano, Capri, Ischia, Napoli. From March to October, the apartment can be reached directly from Capodichino airport by PINTOUR shuttle bus.
