Successful business year for Engel & Völkers Switzerland

Engel & Völkers Wohnen Schweiz closed the last year with another revenue record. The net brokerage revue reached the unprecedented height of CHF 46 million with nearly 1,300 transactions (sales and letting), thereby surpassing the previous year’s result.

“Our real estate agencies in Ascona, Thalwil, Zug and Küsnacht, with their long-standing and consistent implementation of the Engel & Völkers system, were major contributors to this wonderful result. But they were not alone: the very positive developments at the Lugano, Bülach and Wallisellen locations, as well as the growth of the offices in St. Moritz and Basel City, all had their part in us getting to where we are”, says Thomas Frigo, Managing Director of Engel & Völkers Wohnen Schweiz.

Sale and letting of residential properties in the second home markets continue to be a trend

Engel & Völkers Ascona is once again leading the charge of the best shops in 2022. The Canton of Tessin, with its Mediterranean climate and good transport infrastructure for both rail and cars, is more popular than ever, and the trend is showing no sign of stopping. Lugano is also showing a constant and positive development, and its exquisite location and its proximity to Italy promise a continuation of this development. St. Moritz as well as Flims and Gstaad were able to make progress in the skiing regions as the second home market did in general. Holiday apartments in Switzerland remain very much in demand and, considering the geopolitical situation, are expected to continue to be so. The desire for an additional place of retreat that can always be reached without any restrictions is a major contributing factor here. Living, as a topic, is still able to captivate people’s imagination and is accorded a high priority.

Outlook: the challenges are getting harder

Even though the signs for 2023 have changed somewhat, we still believe that the growth trend of Engel & Völkers in the Swiss residential property market will continue. On the one hand, this will happen by the granting of further free licence areas but, on the other hand, by the number of transactions. “The real estate market will remain highly contested. We are meeting and will continue to meet this situation with great motivation and energy, which will enable us to continue to be a reliable partner for real estate in the new year. We are here for our clients, ready to answer any question they may have as homeowners, and, as professional estate agents, we want to prove our competency in all areas relating to real property”, explains Thomas Frigo.
