This blog is about Menorca’s many little street markets where you can buy high quality food products alongside local arts and crafts of every size and description. The markets are held in many towns and villages, so you will never have far to go to find the nearest street market, no matter where you buy your home. Mahón, Ferreries, Es Mercadal: Street markets can be found all over Menorca

The more you are in Menorca, you will quickly realise that traditional crafts play a big role here: Handmade products are sold at the street markets and are very popular with both tourists and local residents. The warmer weather is particularly inviting for spending time wandering around the handicraft markets and checking out the locally made products. Gourmets are in for a really big treat, getting their money’s worth at one of the food markets; a particularly popular product is Mahón cheese, as are the traditional Menorcan pastries and the locally grown Saffron. Craft stalls are varied offering wood and metal crafts, handbags, belts and other leather goods, handmade jewellery, ceramics, soaps and the famous Avarca sandals, which are also on sale in the street markets. Take your pick, regular markets can be found in Ciutadella, Es Castell, Fornells, Mahón, Ferreries or Sant Lluís. In summer, the night markets in the ports of Costa Marina and Cales Fonts are a special delight. Some craft markets take place all year round, for example, every Tuesday and Saturday in Mahón and every Saturday in Ferreries.
