In the municipality of Clivio, in a green area on the border with Switzerland, a villa of about 370 sqm commercial built in 1975 and designed by the still current owners is offered for exclusive sale. The property is spread over three floors and the main facade is characterized, on each floor, by arches that frame the landscape at different heights and that hint at the great love for the location and the view. Clivio: Location and surroundings of this property
Located on a hill ("clivium") overlooking the Mendrisiotto valley, the Comasco and the surrounding hills descending towards the Lombard plain, it is believed to have been inhabited by the Orobi, people of Cisalpine Gaul, who inhabited the mountainous region between Lake Como and Lake Garda. Clivius was a colony of the Roman Empire and Caesar established a station there to winter his legions. At the base of the hill on which the old town stands, flows the Lanza torrent, which in its path in the village takes the name of the Clivio torrent. Along this torrent are still visible two mills: the Mulino di sopra, known since 1550, where until 1940 there was a spinning mill, and the Mulino di sotto, of which unfortunately few traces of history remain. The two hamlets that have taken their name from these ancient settlements are now being settled by private individuals who value their ancient history. Unlike the neighbors Viggiù and Saltrio, who based their economy on the extraction of sandstone quarries, Clivio developed mainly an agricultural activity. The municipality of Clivio is located in the northwestern part of Lombardy, in the province of Varese, from which it is 15 km. Clivio is also the first town of the Monte San Giorgio massif, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2003.
