House|landscape is one of the towers of the medieval castle of the city of Matera.
From the windows of the three floors of the property it is possible to embrace the Gravina and the Sasso Caveoso in a single glance. To dwell in this dwelling is to dwell in the city, in nature, in the dream of Matera. Matera is one of the oldest cities in the world whose territory holds evidence of human settlements starting from the Paleolithic and uninterrupted to the present day. It represents an extraordinary page written by man through the millennia of this very long history.
Matera is the city of the “Sassi” (stones), the original urban core, developed from natural caves carved into the rock and later shaped into increasingly complex structures within two large natural amphitheaters that are the Sasso Caveoso and the Sasso Barisano.
In 1993 UNESCO declared the Sassi di Matera a World Heritage Site. The Sassi di Matera are the 6th site in Italy in chronological order and the first in the south. On the occasion of this inscription, for the first time UNESCO uses in its criteria and motivations the concept of Cultural Landscape, which will later be used to motivate the inscription of other sites around the world.
In 2019 Matera is European Capital of Culture. Matera is at the center of an incredible rocky landscape that preserves a great heritage of culture and traditions, and is home to exhibition events of great national and international prestige. A city with a fascinating and complex history: a city of borders, of contrasts, of competition and fusion between different landscapes, civilizations, cultures. Today, again under the banner of European urban planning culture, aspects of the challenge of redevelopment, sustainable recovery, and regaining lost identity are the activities that have brought back to the forefront this unique city that has rightly become a world heritage site of humanity. The assignment of mediation to our agency and our real estate agents is conferred through the signing of a specific document or, failing that, through the use of the services listed in our brochure, in our real estate files and ralative clauses.
