Cusano Milanino is located in the upper Lombardy plain along the course of the Seveso, the river that flows through the western area of the city from north to south . The city's land area is almost entirely urbanized, with the exception of the Milanino agricultural area, which is included in the Grugnotorto Villoresi Park.
Cusano Milanino is neighboring with the municipalities of Bresso, Cinisello Balsamo, Cormano and Paderno Dugnano, and is about 10 kilometers from Milan Cathedral Square.
With the twentieth century came the first real turning points in the city's history, beginning with the building of the garden city of Milanino, the first to be built in Italy on the model of those built in England, the forerunners of luxury residences. Its creator was Luigi Buffoli from Brescia, who saw the opportunity primarily as an experience of cooperativism among upper middle-class families. Thus in 1915 the Cusano Milanino of today was born, which was enriched between 1909 and 1923 with elegant villas and cottages, in Art Nouveau and eclectic style.
As in the twentieth century, the old Milanese upper middle class chose Cusano Milanino as a pleasant green residence in the immediate vicinity of Milan.
