The village of Varese Ligure is located in the heart of the Alta Valle del Vara, known as "Valle del Biologico". There are more than 40 farms that merge their farming activities in local cooperatives, for the production of organic meat and cheese.
Also the river, languid soul of the territory, offers to the lovers of fishing its fruits such as trout and eels.
Varese was the first Italian municipality to obtain environmental certifications (ISO 14001 and EMAS) and in 2004 it was awarded by the European Union as the best rural community. The whole territory is appreciable. Built on the ridge or halfway up the coast, the many hamlets, with their churches, bell towers, ruins of castles and fortifications, organic farms, draw a landscape to discover little by little. Beautiful road that leads to the Passo delle Cento Croci and from there descends into the Val di Taro.
