Arizzano is a small municipality of almost 2,000 inhabitants located along the Nuova Intra – Premeno road, a road artery connecting Verbania and Lake Maggiore to the mountain locality of Premeno. Situated at an altitude of about 500 meters above sea level and blessed by the sun, this small municipality can be described as a balcony over Lake Maggiore thanks to its breathtaking panoramic view where the green of the mountains embraces the crystal-clear waters of the Lake and the iconic places of the area such as the Borromean Islands and the heights of Stresa, the Lombard shore around Laveno and the tip of Castagnola in Verbania. Founded at the beginning of the 12th century, the village of Ariziano follows the changes in the medieval history of Lake Maggiore, periodically coming under the dominion of the Milanese families of the Visconti and the Borromeo, and then under the wise administrative control of the Moriggia family of Frino until it became an autonomous municipality around 1723. In the center of the village, it is possible to visit the Parish of San Bernardo, a late Baroque church built in the seventeenth century on the remains of an old oratory, which houses a wild marble sink but, above all, beautiful modern mosaics that adorn its internal walls and floor. Located in the square of the former municipal building, we find the monumental mosaic titled Arizzano created by Walter Ferrarini with precious materials such as Venetian enamels and gold. Divided into panels, the mosaic represents the history of Arizzano through real and symbolic images. In the Mulini area, on the border with the municipalities of Bee and Ghiffa, hiking enthusiasts can take the path called "Little Tibet" and reach the famous Albagnano Meditation Healing Center after an energizing climb, or follow the road leading to Ghiffa and then venture into the paths starting from the Caronio hamlet and reach the UNESCO heritage area of the Sacro Monte della Trinità. Thanks to the excellent sun exposure, the presence of essential services such as post offices, nursery schools, and small craft businesses, and the strategic location to reach Verbania and all the services present in the city in 5 minutes by car, over the years Arizzano has become a particularly sought-after residential location for those who wish to find a sun-kissed corner of peace from which to contemplate the crystal-clear waters of Lake Maggiore just a few minutes from the conveniences of the center of Verbania.
