The municipality of Badia borders on two nature parks: Fanes-Sennes-Prags and Puez-Geisler, which are characterized above all by their unmistakable mountain panorama and high peaks. The many small hamlets of Badia, known as "Viles", give this special place its rural flair. The annual Leonardi Ride at the beginning of November is now famous, a procession on horseback in honor of St. Leonhard, patron saint of farmers and cattle. Badia is considered the stronghold of the Ladin valleys, where the Rhaeto-Romanic language is spoken, and great importance is attached to their special culture. Here you will find numerous excursion possibilities for summer and winter that leave nothing to be desired. Whether action or relaxation, there is something for everyone. In summer, the lifts start directly from the village to countless excursion destinations such as the Gardenacia hut, just above the village, or the Heilig Kreuz pilgrimage church, which is also a popular hiking destination. In winter, the lifts take you to a total of around 130 km of ski slopes, which can be found throughout the ski area. "Alta Badia" and on which numerous international ski races are organized. Its particular position allows you to reach villages like San Cassiano or Corvara, also with public transportation. Other important points such as shops, pharmacies and restaurants are only a few minutes' drive away.
